The Dilemma

It’s 8:59pm and I’m in the valley of making a super important decision–to put the phone down and get on with my evening rituals or just keep playing with different social media sites until I fall asleep. What do you think? Tomorrow is Monday again. ;(

The Discussion
Every single decision we make affects every single aspect of our lives. There’s always the domino or ripple effect. Therefore, if I choose to put away my phone that means I can go to bed early and wake up early. However, if I opt for the second choice then I will be hurrying to work tomorrow. It’s 9pm and after 9 is 10 then 11 then 12. So, what is it going to be?

The Choice
I think I’d go for the 1st option. Why? What are the benefits of sleeping early and waking up early?

The Benefits
1. Lengthens life span.
2. Improves our memory.
3. Helps us to be more productive and time conscious.
4. Makes us kinder, happier, and cheerful.
5. Helps us to be more patient and considerate of others.
6. Allows our body to rest, rejuvenate, and regenerate.
7. Makes us be better stewards of the “temple of the Holy Spirit”

The Rebuttal
But I’m an evening person, what do I do? Well, my friend, there is a reason why God created day and night–day for most of us to work and play and night for us to rest. We cannot be working and playing round the clock. However, those who have the opposite lifestyle, please make sure that you get enough rest in the morning. You can always do something with your circadian rhythm. I’ve seen other people, disconnect themselves from the online world, close the curtains to ensure that the room is dark, and have signboards by their door saying, “Don’t disturb.” Do whatever us best for you.

The Decision
So, what is it going to be for you, my friend? Sleeping is one of those many but often neglected gifts from God. Do not waste it. Psalm 127:2 (CJB),

In vain do you get up early
and put off going to bed,
working hard to earn a living;
for he provides for his beloved,
even when they sleep. What are you waiting for? Drop that To-do list because tomorrow there will be another list. 😉 Remember, God provides even when we are asleep. That’s how much He loves us.

Good night and God bless!:)
